With the increase in conveyor belt width, belt speed, and material processing thickness, as well as increasingly stringent requirements for impurity removal, higher demands are being placed on magnetic separators, driving their development towards intelligence, energy conservation, and high efficiency.
1. Fine Iron Removal
Since raw materials inevitably contain some small iron particles and sometimes small amounts of iron-titanium minerals during processing, removing these finer iron impurities requires improving the iron removal capacity of the separator, moving towards finer removal.
Developing explosion-proof equipment capable of removing impurities larger than 2 meters, and constructing a "dual filtration" system to reduce the risk of equipment damage.
2. High Magnetic Field and High Gradient
By using neodymium iron boron rare earth permanent magnets or superconducting materials, and applying better materials, the magnetic field strength of the magnetic separator can be optimized, with increasingly larger gradients.
3. Energy Saving Optimization
Electromagnetic separators generate magnetic fields by passing an electric current through them. They have irreplaceable advantages in certain industries (such as ceramic factories). Therefore, energy saving and consumption reduction are the development trends of electromagnetic separators.
The control system of magnetic separators often employs PLC control, which improves reliability, reduces maintenance, and facilitates networking with other automatic control systems for precise linkage, eliminating idling waste.
By changing the cooling method from natural cooling to oil cooling or air cooling circulation, the current required to maintain the magnetic field is reduced.
4. Development of New Electromagnetic Separator Power Supplies
The quality of the power supply is one of the factors determining the performance of the magnetic separator. A good power supply has advantages such as high power factor, ease of control, low cost, energy saving, and easy connection with other intelligent devices.
The requirements for magnetic separators in mining scenarios are shifting from simply attracting iron to comprehensive technical solutions that are safe, intelligent, energy-efficient, adaptable, and system-wide.
