Permanent Magnetic Filter

Gyw Series Drum-Type Vacuum Permanent Magnetic Filter

The Drum-type Vacuum Permanent Magnetic Filter is an overhead-fed, external-filtering vacuum permanent magnetic dewatering device, primarily designed for the dewatering of coarse-grained, strongly magnetic materials. Represented by the GYW series, the equipment offers filtration areas ranging from 3 to 20 square meters, allowing for selection based on the specific requirements of various production scales.

Unlike conventional vacuum filters, the Drum-type Vacuum Permanent Magnetic Filter utilizes magnetic force to adsorb the strongly magnetic concentrates from the slurry, thereby forming a filter cake; subsequently, it employs vacuum suction to remove moisture from the cake. Notably, the vacuum zone within this device encompasses only a specific section-the dewatering zone. This unique operating principle enables the equipment to achieve a production efficiency more than three times higher than that of conventional drum-type vacuum filters of equivalent specifications.

Working Principle

GWY

The operation of the drum-type permanent magnet vacuum filter is accomplished through a continuous sequence of actions: feeding, cake formation via adsorption, dewatering, discharge, and cleaning.

Feeding and Cake Formation

As the magnetic slurry enters the upper feed box, the solid-phase magnetic particles within it-driven by the combined forces of magnetism and gravity-rapidly aggregate into magnetic clusters and adhere to the surface of the filter cloth covering the drum. During this stage, a controlled amount of compressed air may be introduced to facilitate particle size stratification within the filter cake; coarser particles settle first against the filter cloth, forming a permeable base layer for the cake.

Dewatering

As the drum rotates, the section bearing the filter cake advances into the dewatering zone. Driven by the vacuum system (operating at a vacuum level of 60–80 kPa), residual moisture within the filter cake permeates through the filter cloth and is drawn out via the vacuum lines located within the filtration chamber and the distribution head. Thanks to the excellent permeability of the filter cake, dewatering efficiency is significantly enhanced.

Discharge and Cleaning

The dewatered material continues to rotate with the drum into the discharge zone, where it is dislodged by a blast of compressed air and collected. Following discharge, the filter cloth enters the cleaning zone, where it undergoes an alternating cleaning process utilizing both air blasts and water. Compressed air is used to forcibly drive water outward through the cloth from the inside, effectively preventing pore clogging and preparing the filter cloth for the subsequent operational cycle.

This unique operating principle-which integrates magnetic adsorption with vacuum dewatering-endows the equipment with a dual functionality encompassing both mineral separation and dewatering. It is particularly well-suited for the highly efficient dewatering of concentrates derived from strongly magnetic minerals.
