In low-grade iron ore beneficiation projects, permanent-magnet drum magnetic separator, permanent-magnet wet pre-concentration machine and permanent-magnet thickening magnetic separator are three key permanent-magnet magnetic separation equipment. When raw ore contains large amount of waste rock, valuable minerals are finely disseminated and concentrate slurry concentration is low, the three units working in series can effectively improve mineral recovery rate, reduce grinding energy consumption and optimize slurry indexes. The permanent-magnet wet pre-concentration machine is generally arranged in the first procedure of the whole magnetic separation process. After ore crushing, materials are firstly sent into the permanent-magnet wet pre-concentration machine for pretreatment. It discards a large amount of waste rock in advance to reduce the processing load of subsequent grinding equipment and realize cost reduction and efficiency improvement, which is a vital part for low-grade iron ore.
Ores after pre-concentration and waste discarding go to the grinding process. Ground and dissociated mineral materials are fed into the permanent-magnet drum magnetic separator for main separation. Relying on permanent-magnet magnetic system to adsorb magnetic minerals, the permanent-magnet drum magnetic separator can perform rough separation, concentration, scavenging and other operations. Featuring stable operation and easy daily maintenance, it can also be applied for dense medium recovery.
Slurry separated by the permanent-magnet drum magnetic separator can be delivered to the permanent-magnet thickening magnetic separator. It integrates dual functions of magnetic mineral recovery and slurry thickening. It can recover fine-grained magnetic minerals and realize slurry dewatering & thickening, outputting qualified high-concentration slurry as ideal feed for secondary grinding, flotation and other follow-up processes. Compared with ordinary permanent-magnet drum magnetic separator, the permanent-magnet thickening magnetic separator hardly dilutes slurry and stably keeps concentrate concentration.
