Magnetic separators are numerous and can be categorized into various types based on different classification criteria. Based on the magnetic source, they can be divided into permanent magnet and electromagnetic separators; based on their structure, they can be divided into belt, drum, and overhead magnetic separators; and based on their operating method, they can be divided into dry and wet magnetic separators.
Belt magnetic separators operate similarly to conveyor belts. Material passes through a magnetic field on a moving conveyor belt. Magnetic particles are attracted to the conveyor belt and then carried out of the magnetic field as the conveyor belt moves, achieving separation.
Drum magnetic separators use a rotating drum as a carrier for the magnetic field. Material enters from one end of the drum, and magnetic particles are attracted to the drum surface. As the drum rotates, they are carried to a designated discharge location, completing separation.
Overhead magnetic separators are typically used to process flowing material, such as material on a conveyor belt. The magnetic separator is suspended above the conveyor belt, and as the material passes, magnetic particles are attracted and collected.
